Your goal needs to be smart (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Targetted or Time bound) but if you want your goal to be better than realistic then it should be big and challenging and it also needs to have real meaning to you.

But what happens then?

Well you need two “C” words. A business Coach (or executive Coach) to work with you AND you need to Commit, you need to take responsibility for achieving that goal and you need to take action.

W.H. Murray wrote “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans; that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.”

So set the goal, make the commitment and take action. As Tony Robbins say’s never leave the setting of a goal until you have taken some form of action towards it’s attainment, better still take massive action.
